Welcome to the ADK Gateway 8 Challenge! Created with the support of the Healthy Corinth Coalition and the Town of Corinth, the “Gateway 8” consists of 10 hikes, four bike rides, and four paddles. We invite you to revel in the beauty of the rolling hills, pristine lakes, and expansive views of the Southern Adirondacks. All this and it’s just 25 minutes from Saratoga Springs! As you explore, take a moment to appreciate the diverse flora and fauna, unique geology, and rich history that make this region truly special.

At ADK Gateway 8, we’re committed to preserving the natural beauty of upstate New York for generations to come. Whether you’re hiking, biking, or paddling, it’s important to practice responsible recreation. By following the 7 Principles of Leave No Trace, you can help minimize your impact on the environment and ensure that these outdoor spaces remain pristine. Here’s how you can do your part:

What is the ADK Gateway 8 Challenge?

The ADK Gateway 8 Challenge is an outdoor adventure challenge where participants complete a series of hiking, biking, or paddling activities around the Corinth area. There are two levels of participation: Gateway 8 (8 activities) and Gateway 8 Lite (4 activities).

How do I sign up for the challenge?

You can sign up on the official website by choosing either the Gateway 8 or Gateway 8 Lite option. After registering, you’ll receive login access to track your progress and log the activities you complete. Payment is via PayPal or check.

What activities can I choose from?

Participants can choose from various hikes, bike rides, and paddles, such as the Redmond’s Overlook Trail, Hudson River Paddle, or biking through Northumberland. The full list of available activities is provided here.

What do I receive when I complete the challenge?

For Gateway 8, you will receive a patch and a sticker of your choosing, and you will have your name added to the official list of Gateway 8 finishers. For Gateway 8 Lite, you will receive a sticker of your choosing, and you will have your name added to the official list of Gateway 8 Lite finishers.

How do I receive my patch and/or sticker when I complete the challenge?

When you enter your last activity, please email adkgateway8@gmail.com to confirm completion. Once we confirm you’ve completed all 4 or 8 activities depending on your membership, we will send you your sticker and/or patch to the billing address on file for your account.

Can I complete the activities in any order?

Yes, you are free to complete the activities in any order that suits you, whether for Gateway 8 or Gateway 8 Lite.

Do I need to log my activities?

Yes, once you sign up, you can log in to your account anytime to log the activities you’ve completed, along with the dates of completion and time taken to complete. This ensures that your progress is officially recorded.

How do I prove I completed the activities?

When registering and logging activities, you’ll need to provide details about the specific activities you completed and the corresponding dates. It’s all based on the honor system.

Can I do the challenge with a group or family?

Absolutely! Many participants enjoy completing the challenge with friends, family, or hiking groups. Each individual will need to register to receive their patch or sticker.

Are there any age restrictions for the challenge?

The challenge is open to adventurers of all ages! Some activities may be more suited for certain skill levels or seasons, so please assess before participating.
